One such story, is that of Henri Nestle, a confectioner from Vevey, Switzerland, who is credited with being the founder of one of the largest and most successful food and beverage manufacturers in the world.

Born in 1814, Nestle had a modest upbringing. His father, an amateur pastry chef, owned and ran a bakery in Vevey. From a young age, Henri was exposed to the art of making confectionery and desserts, which fueled his growing ambition to start his own business. At the age of 21 he set up shop in Vevey and began making puddings, jellies and liqueurs, as well as milk-based products such as milk chocolate and condensed milk. Forming Nestle and the Birth of a Global Brand

In 1867 Nestle put his name to his newly developed infant milk formula, which led to him forming the company Nestle in Vevey. From this moment, the business grew from strength to strength into global success.
